A sculptural collaboration exploring climate change
Information
Exhibition Concept
- Carbon Neutral x 5ive is an exhibition developed through the collaborative efforts of five of the nation’s leading regional sculpture organizations: New England Sculptors Association; Philadelphia Sculptors; Sculptors Incorporated (Baltimore); Tri State Sculptors Education Association (NC, SC, and VA); and the Washington Sculptors Group (DC).
- We seek a broad range of sculptural responses to the theme of climate change, both conceptually stimulating and visually complex.
- Artists wishing to submit works for consideration must be members of one of the above sculptor’s groups in good standing, and must maintain membership throughout the exhibition period. No submission fees will be charged.
- Size Limit: all works must measure no larger than 10 x 10 x 10 inches.
- The juror will select ten (10) works from each of the five sculptors groups for a sum total of 50 works in the exhibition.
Juror
David Furchgott is founder and president of International Arts & Artists, a Washington, DC based, non-profit organization dedicated to increasing cross-cultural understanding and exposure to the arts internationally through exhibitions, programs and services to artists, arts institutions, and the public. During its eleven-year history, IA&A has collaborated with more than 300 museums and cultural institutions in 49 states and 30 foreign countries. With nearly 40 exhibitions being circulated and scheduled internationally — and nearly twice that many more in various stages of planning — IA&A has become the producer of the largest number of touring art exhibitions in the United States. Before founding IA&A in 1995, Mr. Furchgott spent 16 years as Executive Director of the International Sculpture Center, which he developed to become the largest organization for sculpture with 15,000 members in over 70 countries. It was there that he began Sculpture magazine. Prior to that, he worked at the State Arts Commission, Spoleto Festival USA, and the Gibbes Museum in South Carolina.
Liability: Works will be insured while on exhibit in accordance with the policies of each venue. Insurance will be purchased through the various carriers while the works are in transit. However, the sculpture groups named herein assume no responsibility for damage or deterioration incurred throughout the exhibition period.
Sales: Commissions on sales shall be in accordance with the standard policies of the various venues sought for the exhibition. However, there will be no additional commissions take on sales by the various sculpture groups.
