The Photo Review, a highly acclaimed critical journal of photography, is sponsoring its 25th annual photography competition with a difference. Instead of only installing an exhibit that would be seen by a limited number of people, The Photo Review will reproduce accepted entries in its 2009 competition issue and on its website. Thus, the accepted photographs will be seen by thousands of people all across the world and entrants will have a tangible benefit from the competition.
 
Also, the prize-winning photographers will be chosen for an exhibition at the photography gallery of The University of the Arts, Philadelphia. And a major traveling exhibition in 2010 will feature entrants from 25 years of The Photo Review Competition.

Awards include a $500 purchase prize for The Philadelphia Museum of Art, a copy of SilverFast HDR Studio digital camera RAW conversion software from LaserSoft Imaging ($499), a $270 gift certificate from Lensbabies for a Composer lens or other items on the Lensbaby.com webstore, a $250 gift certificate from Calumet Photographic, a 24″x50′ roll of Museo Silver Rag ($240 value), a 20″x24″ silver gelatin fiber print from Digital Silver Imaging ($215 value), camera bags from Lowepro, and $250 in cash prizes.

Px3’s photography competition, Aftermath, is a depiction of the consequence of an event.  Our lives can be traced, to a series of aftermaths, the results of a cause and effect, that defines who we are, and what our lives are made of.

From celebrations, to wars and their impact, birth and death, natural disasters, intimate, personal relationships, these are defining images– the Aftermath, of these events. All ranges of emotions and scenarios play a part in creating our own individual aftermaths.

It is the desire of Px3 to bring together on a global scale, in a common voice, these distinct ideas of Aftermath, as seen from the perspective of the photographers.

Px3 invites photographers from around the world, both professional and non-professional, to enter work that showcases the importance and impact of  Aftermaths in our world.

The top 20 winning photographs selected will be exhibited.

LICC invites passionate visual artists, regardless of experience or nationality, to submit their innovative artwork for inclusion in the LICC competition. The jury-selected finalists and shortlist will be published in the LICC Annual Awards Book, on this website and will be announced to the creative arts and media outlets worldwide. Welcome to the EP Education Grants awards program. In an effort to recognize and support emerging photographers, Editorial Photographers [EP], a non-profit mutual benefit organization, is pleased to announce our second annual student photography competition.

A total of seven prize packages are available to full time photography students who enter and submit their portfolio by the deadline. Design an award for the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Presidential Commission on Latinas in the Workplace

Information

The Hispanic National Bar Association will grant annual awards to Latina lawyers. The award will recognize Latina lawyers who demonstrate excellence in a variety of professional settings and personify excellence on either the national, regional, or local level. The award recipient will be selected based on the following criteria:

* The Latina was a pioneer in her field, OR
* The individual achieved professional excellence in her field;
* The Latina has a demonstrable record of contributing to or assisting members of her community;
AND (at least one of the following):
* The Latina has influenced other Latinas to pursue legal careers
* The Latina has Opened doors for Latina lawyers in a variety of job settings historically closed to them
* The Latina has advanced opportunities for Latinas within a practice area or segment of the profession
* The Latina has made significant contributions to the legal profession
* The Latina has made significant contributions to the Latino community as a direct result of her legal work.

The Commission would like to invite students to submit design ideas for this award. The winning design will reflect the multi-dimensional facets the award recipients. In particular, HNBA wants to solicit designs that represent the Latina Lawyers’:

Commitment to the Legal Profession;
Commitment to Family; and
Commitment to the Community

The award will be produced into a 7-10 inch pewter 3-dimensional sculpture which will be presented at the HNBA’s 34 th Annual Convention “Opening Doors / Abriendo Puertas” in Albuquerque, New Mexico September 2-6, 2009.

The student with the winning design will also receive a $1,500 scholarship.

The spring 2009 story contest, is open to short shorts, short stories, essays, memoirs, photo essays, graphic stories, all forms of literary nonfiction, and excerpts from longer works of both fiction and nonfiction.

Ten finalists will receive $100 each and all entries will be considered for publication.
