About the Theme
It’s said a picture is worth a 1,000 words. And as with the well-composed essay, the wellcomposed photograph can evoke thoughts and feelings in the viewer’s mind. This year’s theme, “Through a Lens: Energy, Strength or Power” is about conveying a sense of energy, a sense of strength, or a sense of power to the viewer using only your image.
About the Jurors
To provide the best evaluation of images we have a panel of three luminary jurors.
Barry Haynes
Barry Haynes, one of the earliest photographers to step into the digital age and co-Author of the respected “Photoshop Artistry” series. He has taught classes for Anderson Ranch in Colorado, International Center of Photography in New York City, Sante Fe Workshop in New Mexico, Palm Beach Photographic Center in Florida and many others.
Janet Jones
Janet Jones is a San Francisco artist working in printmaking, painting, collage, assemblage, photography and digital techniques She is one of 40 artists worldwide to be featured in the Lark Publications book, “Masters: Collage”, to be released in 2010.
Stephen Chalmers
Stephen Chalmers has worked as a Lead Treatment Counselor to Severely Emotionally Disturbed children and taught gang children photography - informing his projects which deal with issues of loss. Stephen’s work is in several collections including the Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago), Lightwork, Polaroid, and the Getty Research Institute.
Hosted by the Coastal Arts League.

First Prize: $2,000 (Over $3,500 in total prizes)
