Powered by Matador, and supported in part by the National Geographic Society, the Glimpse Correspondents Program provides talented writers and photographers between the ages of 18-36 with a $600 stipend as well as one on one editorial training and support to complete an independent journalistic work based on their experience abroad. The program is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 36 who will be working, volunteering, or studying outside of their home country for at least 10 weeks.

The 2010 Harnett Biennial of American Prints is the ninth competitive national exhibition organized by the University of Richmond Museums. Open to all forms of prints, the exhibition is presented as a celebration and examination of contemporary printmaking by artists throughout the United States. The Harnett Biennial will be on view from October 21 to December 5, 2010, in the Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art.

The juror of this biennial is Laura Kruger, Curator of the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion Museum, New York.

The exhibition is open to all artists residing in the United States. Entries must be in the category of printmaking using any traditional and/or experimental techniques and media. Eligible entries include prints on paper using, but not limited to, such media as intaglio, relief, planographic, stencil, monotype, and digital processes (no giclée reproductions are allowed). Photographs on paper are eligible. Prints must have been completed in the last two years.

InLight Richmond 2010 is the third annual outdoor temporary light-inspired contemporary art exhibition organized by 1708 Gallery. Light-inspired art will be exhibited and performed in the street, on/in buildings, sidewalks, walls, and alleys in the historic Shockoe Slip neighborhood of downtown Richmond, Virginia, on the evening of October 22 and/or October 23, 2010.

1708 Gallery invites emerging and established artists, national and international, working in all media and disciplines (including performance art) to submit proposals. Preferences will be given to proposals that involve, are inspired by, investigate, or interpret themes of light, from light as medium to light as an abstract idea. Existing work, as well as proposals for new projects will be considered. Deadline for entries is June 21, 2010.

Potential sites for installations and performance work include various public interior and exterior spaces including sidewalks, storefronts, buildings, walls, entry ways, atriums, street corners, etc., in the Historic Shockoe Slip neighborhood of downtown Richmond.

The work for the exhibition will be selected by Amanda McDonald Crowley, the Executive Director of Eyebeam in New York, the leading not-for-profit art and technology center in the United States. She is a cultural worker, curator and facilitator who specializes in creating new media and contemporary art events and programs that encourage cross-disciplinary practice, collaboration and exchange. She moved to New York in October 2005, relocating from her native Australia where she had been based while working nationally and throughout Europe and Asia.

The No Dead Artists exhibition was founded in 1995 to give a voice to emerging artists. The exhibition’s name is derived from the old adage that artists never achieve any success until they die. No Dead Artists turns that on its head and gives emerging artists their first break into the art world. In the 90’s, the exhibition was open only to New Orleans artists and then it grew to include artists of Louisiana.
The exhibition has been a springboard for many artists, leading to press coverage, national recognition, gallery representation and acquisitions by museums and other prominent collections. Each year gallery owner, Jonathan Ferrara, invites a panel of renowned arts professional and collectors to select the newest creative talents. Past jurors have included Prospect.1 Founder and Curator Dan Cameron, Museum Director Billie Milam Weisman, Artist Tony Fitzpatrick, MacArthur Fellow John Scott and Ogden Museum Director David Houston.
