The Diablo Valley Film Festival is now taking submissions from student film makers for their September 11th event.

The Diablo Valley Film Festival exists to promote film that would not be otherwise seen commercially by the public. The Diablo Valley Film Festival celebrates the independent spirit of cinema. The festival offers a screening venue for upcoming and established filmmakers from around the globe. The festival presents all genres of films including narrative features, shorts, music videos and documentaries with an emphasis on innovative storytelling, creative technical expertise and experimental approach.

The festival is centered in historic downtown Martinez, California.

Requirements

Submission deadline: June 30th

Student films include can include features or shorts of any genre. Students must be enrolled in an accredited school at the the time of production completion and must provide proof of enrollment. Students category is limited to those filmmakers under the age of 21 years old. Proof of age must accompany submission. Student must be either the producer and/or director on project.

The Rencontres Internationales is now open for entries and will take place at the Centre Pompidou, and other places in Paris from November 25 to December 4, 2010. The same program will be shown in Madrid in April 2011 and in Berlin in July 2011.

The Rencontres Internationales offer more than just a simple presentation of the works. It introduces an intercultural forum gathering various guests from all over the world - artists and filmmakers, institutions and emerging organizations - to testify to their reflections and their experiences, but also to artistic and cultural contexts that are often undergoing deep changes. The Rencontres Internationales reflect specificities and convergences of artistic practices between new cinema and contemporary art, explore emerging media art practices and their critical purposes, and make possible a necessary time when points of view meet and are exchanged.

These three events will propose an international program dedicated to cinema, contemporary video  and multimedia work, gathering works by artists and directors recognized on the international scene along with younger artists and directors.

All individuals or organizations can submit one or several proposals. The call for entries is open to cinema, video and multimedia works, without any restriction of length or genre. All submissions are free, regardless of geographical origin.

The FreshiFilms, LLC works to give young people ages 8-18 the ability to bridge generational, racial, religious and cultural gaps communicating through film to a larger audience encouraging an honest dialogue between all people. This program strives to give young people the tools to communicate their unique visions in their own voices through hands-on experiences in filmmaking empowering them to skillfully craft and create their own stories to share with others worldwide.

Information

The camp is a five-day, 6 hours a day, immersive experience that gives each student a chance to work on a film crew and create their own movie. Both beginner and advanced levels of filmmaking are available at each of the camps, so any young filmmaker will fit right in! Each of the completed films is automatically entered into the IFFF Youth Festival which is an annual sidebar of the IFFF

For the first time this year, Freshi is offering an Acting Camp,”Discovering the Storyteller Within You!” in tandem with each of the film camps. Students enrolled in both camps will serve as the actors in the filmmaking class and have a chance to leave the camp with a demo reel of their acting work.

The age range for both camps is 8-18. Lunch, beverages and snacks are offered each day and included in the admission fee. All materials and equipment are also included. For out of town youth, a full tour package can be arranged with a reputable tour operator for Hollywood who specializes in educational tours

The 16th annual International Family Film Festival affirms that since the beginning of time “Great Stories Bring Families Together”. With that theme as a slogan, IFFF launches on March 16-20, 2011at the Raleigh Studios, Hollywood, CA.

Information

As is tradition, the festival features premieres and film screenings, the Screenwriters Showcase, Panel Discussions with industry professionals, and lots of opportunities to network with agents, producers, writers, distributors and working professionals in the film industry. Not only is this a great place to have your film screened or your script read, the festival also provides filmmakers an opportunity to conduct market research directly with their audience.

The categories for films are: drama, comedy, computer animation, classic animation, documentary, musical, and educational. Deadline for film and screenplay is January 16, 2011.

Massey Cancer Center is a part of the VCU Medical College of Virginia and treats thousands of patients. MCC pushes the frontiers of medical research through state of the art treatment and clinical trials. They are dedicated to treating their patients’ illnesses, while also providing a generally quality experience. This depends largely on the environment in which the patients receive treatment. Research has proven that visual art plays an important role in developing a healing environment. To that end, The VCU Health System Arts in Health care Program seeks student artwork that would enhance the patient’s experience. This initiative will provide VCUarts students a unique opportunity to exhibit and sell their artwork. There will be four exhibits during the next 12 months. Exhibits will last approximately 90 days. Artwork cannot be removed before the exhibit’s end date.

Information

Each exhibit will include a total of 10 pieces of paint/print/photography and 1 sculpture (weighing under 65 lbs). Two dimensional artwork can not exceed 48 inches in any direction including the frame. (preference will be given to representational artwork) Artwork is insured while under the control of the VCUHS Arts in Healthcare program.

Artwork must be framed and will be security hung requiring screws to be drilled in the back of wood frames. Pedestals for indoor sculptures are provided and outdoor sculptures must be structurally sound with no sharp edges.

Opportunity

Twice a year the Arlington Arts Center offers a group of 7 artists an opportunity to exhibit work in a SOLOS show.

Information

Each year 10 to 14 artists from across the Mid-Atlantic region are selected for solo exhibitions to take place in one of AAC’s seven seperate gallery spaces, or outside on the grounds. Proposals that specifically take into account AAC’s space, layout, and surrounding environs are encouraged.

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts lead by curators Michael Pollack and Melissa Keys.

Exhibitions typically run for seven to eight weeks. AAC shows are often reviewed in The Washington Post, Art Papers, Sculpture Magazine, Art in America, and other publications, both in print and online.

Artists may submit up to 10 images along with an artist’s statement, resume, written exhibition proposal and  list of work samples submitted.

There is a $35 exhibition fee.
