* Film/Video applicants may submit personally conceived works in the following categories only: Narrative (fiction, dramatized events, and authorized adaptations of literary or dramatic works); Animation (the animation of graphics or three-dimensional objects); and Experimental (works that may expand the traditional definition of film or video forms—live-action or animation techniques can be used). Only noncommercial, noninstructional works over which the applicant has exclusive control of content and primary creative responsibility will be accepted. No music videos, footage of installations, or other medium will be considered.

Requirements

You are eligible to apply if you are an undergraduate or graduate student or a professional artist (not seeking a degree at the time of the application deadline or during the grant period, August 2011 – May 2012, who agrees to reside in the state during the grant period.) Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States, as well as current legal residents of Virginia or registered in-state students. Professionals must have been residents for at least 24 consecutive months and students for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to this application. Applicants must be able to provide verification of residency upon request. Students must be enrolled, or planning to be enrolled, full time for the entire academic year at an accredited college, university, or school of the arts. Partial fellowship awards may be considered on a case-by-case basis for full-time students in the last semester of a degree program.

Cherry Bomb is curating a charity art exhibition as part of RVyAy! We want your flat artwork inspired by music for a show at Gallery 5 in December. This includes First Friday’s high volume foot traffic viewing of your work. Your name will be displayed underneath your piece with the title of your work which will be the name of the piece of music that inspired you.

The work will be hung in clear record bags. Your work does not need to be record cover sized but all work must delivered mounted on 12″x12″ foamcore panel - Cherry Bomb will provide the record bags. Work cannot be larger than 12″x12″. All work will be sold for a sliding scale donation ($20-$50) which will go to our chosen charity: ART 180.

Please email a smallish file size image or two of your work to artvyay@gmail.com no later than 10/31/10. It doesn’t have to be the actual piece you are submitting, which can be a new or an existing piece, but should be indicative of your style. Accepted artists will be notified by 11/06/10.
