Curated Culture’s First Fridays is held on the first Friday of each month, rain or shine, generally between 6 and 10 p.m. This unique cultural event showcases Richmond’s thriving arts community, focusing on the diverse arts and cultural venues located along the historic Broad Street corridor.

This exhibit will present works from the 60’s and 70’s era’s art movement of “psychedelic” works and works inspired by that of “Warhol”Basquiat”Max” etc…also inspired by the great album covers of that era. In conjuntion to the exhibit on March 19th 2011, 1 week before the show comes down, we will hold a 60’s 70’s style dance (dress in your fav 60’s, 70’s outfits!) with a Dj spinning all the hits from that era,as a fundraiser for art6 Gallery. art6 Gallery is a conduit for art exeriences, expression and education and serves as a venue and platform for the community to present their creativity via the visual arts,music, writing and performance.

Opportunity

Display your artwork at an Orchid Show held by Strange’s Florist and Garden Center.

Information

For the past 5 years, Strange’s Florist and Garden Center has held an Orchid Show at their Broad Street location for the VA Orchid Society. They are currently looking to have work displayed during the show which will be judged and voted on by the general public. Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens has agreed to display the top three pieces for the month of March and possibly April. In addition, a gift card would be awarded to the winner. The show will take place February 25th-27th.

Requirements

The artwork can be anything dealing with gardening or ideally orchids.

Two $1500 scholarships are available to undergraduate PAPR majors for one week summer workshops at Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, Colorado. Visit www.andersonranch.org for a listing of workshop offerings in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking. One award will be granted for a Painting or Drawing workshop and one award will be granted for a Printmaking workshop.

Eligibility:

This exhibition is open to all artists ages 18 and up. Any three dimensional media and subject matter is eligible. Inside submissions must fit through a standard size door and may not exceed 100lbs. Work must be ready to hang or show when dropped off. All work must be available for the entire exhibit. Outdoor sculpture will be placed at the corner of Cotanche &  front of Mendenhall (pad sizes 6′ x 6′).

Entries & fees:

Each artist may submit up to 3 entries for a fee of $15. Additional entries cost $5 per entry with a limit of 5 total entries. Checks should be payable to Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge. Digital Entries must be received by Sat. Feb. 5 by 4PM. Images may be submitted as jpegs on a cd, flash drive, or e-mailed to info@pittcountyarts.org, as long as application and check are sent before the due date.

Submissions must be delivered to:

Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge 404 S. Evans St. Greenville, NC 27858 Must be received (not postmarked) by Sat. Feb. 5, 2011.
It is assumed that all work is for sale unless noted with an insurance value. PCAC Emerge will retain a 40% commission (30% for ECU students). If work is not for sale, an insurance value must be given and NFS stated or work will not be insured. Payment will be mailed within 45 days of the end of the exhibition.
