Design a banner to be displayed in downtown Richmond.
Just use the new RVA Downtown logo, or some variation of it, to create original artwork showcasing your love of RVA or what creativity in Richmond means to you. You could be one of the top designers chosen to have your art turned into a street pole banner displayed in downtown RVA—along with up to $500 in your pocket.
Multiple winning entries will be chosen by a group of RVA Creates partners and two of those winning entries will be awarded a First and Second Prize. Plus one winner will be voted by the public as the “People’s Choice” through an online poll. All winning designers will have their work displayed on downtown street pole banners for a year or more!
Submission Deadline: April 7th
Banner must incorporate a version of the RVA Downtown logo.

Create artwork for a fundraiser for the disAbility Issues Caucus for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The disAbility Issues Caucus organization is having a fundraiser event on April 15, 2011 at 6:30pm in Washington D.C. at the Democratic National Headquarters-Wasserman Family Conference Room. Featured speakers are Governor Tim Kaine, International Autism Speaker David Hamrick and Dr. Gaynell Colborn who is the percussionist for Legendary Stevie Wonder’s band. The caucus is looking for students from Universities in Central Virginia to submit a design that will be showcased on the program for the event.
The title of the event is called “I’m Beyond my Disability”
The winner will attend the event, meet all of the speakers and celebrity guests and will be recognized at the event.
The submission is due April 4th at the close of the business day.

1708 Gallery is inviting artists to submit work for the second Feed Biennial.
This national juried exhibition is open to ant professional or graduate student artist working in any medium. 1708 Gallery is a non-profit contemporary art space in Richmond, Va whose mission is to expand the understanding, development, and appreciation of contemporary art by giving exposure to both emerging and established artists.
Submission Deadline: March 31st
Entry Fee: $30 for 5 images
The jurors will select work to be exhibited from the work submitted. All work submitted must be available for exhibition from the last week in August 2011to the last week in October 2011. All work must be received ready for installation with proper hanging devices attached and instructions where necessary. 1708 Gallery reserves the right to refuse any work that is improperly presented or unsafe to hang. Any special installation requirements must be discussed with gallery staff in advance.
All work submitted must fit through a 4ft x 7ft opening.
1708 Gallery will provide insurance for work within the gallery for 65% of stated retail value work covering loss, theft, or damage due to malicious intent.
Artists are responsible for the cost and arrangement of shipping artwork (delivery and pick-up) to and from 1708 Gallery.

The Bees Awards and Mango Languages want to recognize the best students of the world and are inviting all students to submit their campaigns for The 2011 World Student Brief.
The mission of the Bees Awards is to honor the best social media marketing practices of the year in order to promote ethical and outstanding professionals and their expertise.
Pretend that you are an advertising agency, and respond to the brief online before March 31, 2011. You could win a Bees Award on May 3, 2011 and a grant of $2,000.

Shakespeare & Company Center for Actor Training in Lenox, MA is holding a summer training institute from July 11 - August 12. This program is well-suited to actors who are dedicated to their development as professional theatre artists and who demand intensity from their training.
The Summer Training Institute is a 5-week program specially designed for undergraduate theatre students, and takes place during the height of our summer performance season.

Registration will take place on Tuesday, March 22, between 10 and 4.
Where to register and drop off work:
- Students in Painting and Printmaking, Sculpture, and Craft departments should register in the lobby of the Fine Arts Building.
- Students in all other departments should register and drop off work at the Anderson Gallery.
Exhibition dates: March 31 - April 17
Eligibility: All undergraduate students who are taking fine art studio courses in the School of the Arts. Eligible students may submit up to 3 works for consideration
All works must be ready to install, including works on paper. Paint must be dry.
Video work should be submitted on a disc as a low-res QuickTime (MPEG) file.

A new non-profit group, The Red Truck Foundation, is launching its campaign with a logo design competition. RTF is an organization that works to bring emergency care services to third world countries.
RTF recognizes the lack of infrastructure in many of these developing nations - and has found a solution through the use of motorcycle ambulances. Through the competition initiative the organization hopes to not only bring awareness to its cause, but to also encourage creativity across the design community.
Logo entries are due by midnight on March 10, 2011. Entries can only be made by individuals, and must be original graphics. There will be two rounds of voting - the first will be conducted by the public, and the second by a jury panel selected by RTF. The final winner of the competition will win $300, and the opportunity to showcase his/her talents. Your design can be the first response. Save lives with a creative design.
