Opportunity

Submit work for the Petersburg Regional Art Center Friday for the Arts.

Information

Openings are the second Friday of every month during Friday for the Arts.

Between $100 and $300 in prize money every month for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards.

Requirements

Entries will be accepted beginning the Saturday before the given opening.

Anyone making anything handmade is eligible.

Must bring artwork in ready to hang on the wall with wire on the back or framed (canvas with a creative edge does not need to be framed).  The Art Center furnishes pedestals for 3D artwork.  May submit three entries per show.  Each entry is $10 for non-members and $5 for members (membership is $35 per year and $50 the first year to include registration).

Art for the Long Haul

In 2010, Celadon Group, Inc is celebrating its 25th year as an award-winning long haul trucking and transportation management company. In an industry few consider to be creative, Celadon Group, Inc. has grown into an international leader through innovation. Since 1985, Celadon Group, Inc. has been fostering arts education and appreciation through a variety of programs in the markets they serve.

In celebration of both the spirit of creativity and our anniversary, we will recognize and reward seven college students whose artistic abilities show promise of adding beauty and creativity to our world over the long haul. Seven category winners will be selected and from these finalists, one will be designated as the overall Best of Show winner.

Requirements

Contest entries must be received by March 5th.

- Contest is open to students throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, unless otherwise prohibited by law.
- Entrant must be attending an accredited two or four-year college/university at the time of entry. Graduate students and part-time students are eligible.
- Entry must be solely the work of the entrant.
- Only one entry per student.
- Entries must be provided in electronic form appropriate for digital transfer and submitted via the online entry upload site.
- Digital files submitted for entry will not be returned.
- Winners retain original artwork and copyright, but in accepting the cash prize agree to Celadon’s unlimited use and reproduction of the art, winner’s likeness and comments for promotional purposes for a period of five years.
- Copyright and trademark infringement are serious offenses. At its sole discretion, the judging panel may disqualify any entry it deems of dubious origin or as posing risks of copyright or trademark infringement. Decisions of the judges are final.
- Artwork is eligible only if it meets all of the following criteria:
- Must have been created by a student while enrolled at an accredited college/university
- Must be solely the original work of the student - cannot contain any elements that are subject to existing ownership or copyrights by any other parties (e.g., cannot contain a manipulated stock photo or any trademarked logos/graphical elements)
- Any person, pet or landmark in a photograph taken by the entrant is subject to model releases and copyright/trademark laws. Any such subject matter deemed recognizable must be of a known person or entity whose written permission for use may be readily obtained at no charge.
- Must not have been produced “for hire” or for any form of professional (non-amateur) compensation
- Must meet reproducibility requirements for truck decaling in flat vinyl - cannot contain elements that require modification of the semi trailer, such as electronics, neon or 3-dimensional extensions or additions

The 2010 Winter Solo Show is a juried international art competition for dynamic, inventive and provocative work of all mediums: sculpture, photography, painting, printmaking, illustration, installation, graphic design, video and more!

Open to all 2D and 3D artists - in all media - whose works meet size specifications.  No jewelry can be accepted.  Art must be original, completed within the past 2 years, and must be for sale.  All work must be dry and ready for display.  CGA reserves the right to reject any work that does not meet these standards.  2D work must be properly prepared for installation by being wired on the back (no alligator clips or hooks).   3D work must stand alone or on a base.

Lexington Art League - Alternative Selves

Submit work for the Lexington Art League Alternative Selves exhibition.

Information

Alternate Selves is an exhibition that explores the transformative power of costume. Through theater, annual holiday celebrations (such as Halloween and Mardi Gras), and even contemporary drag shows, costumes have allowed the wearer to reveal a new identity or at times hide from their own. Artists creating wearable items or those using costume, disguise, masks, etc. as primary thematic elements in their work may apply. Artists are encouraged to creatively interpret the theme. 2-D, 3-D, and time-based entries will be considered.

Call for Artists - Richmond Behavioral Health Authority

Richmond Behavioral Health Authority would like to display the art work of VCUarts students in their facility.

Information

The Authority serves Richmonders with mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorders. The work, which would be for sale, would be displayed for approximately six months, at which time new work would be displayed.

The art should be appropriate for viewing by the clients served and not depict anything that would be offensive to them and the challenges they may be facing.

Torpedo Factory Art Center Visiting Artist Program

Information

The Torpedo Factory Art Center (TFAC) is one of the largest visual art centers in the U.S. and is home to more than 140 visual artists working in 82 studios. Artists create in a wide variety of media including painting, fiber, jewelry, ceramics, printmaking, cast and stained glass, photography, and sculpture. The Torpedo Factory is open to the public every day; visitors are invited and welcomed into studios to enjoy the art, watch artists at work, ask questions, and purchase original art – allowing the public an opportunity to share in the excitement and fascination of the creative process.

The Visiting Artist Program is open to all emerging and experienced visual artists over the age of 21 who are not currently Torpedo Factory leaseholders. Applicants provide evidence of artistic accomplishment through the submitted images and application form. By applying, applicants agree to: (1) work in front of, and interact with, the public; (2) work in the studio five days a week during the period of the residency (because most of our visitors come on the weekends, we request that Visiting Artist work on those days); and (3) commit to follow the Visiting Artist Program requirements.
