UICA’s Holiday Artists’ Market is a unique holiday sale for shoppers seeking one-of-a-kind works by the region’s most exciting artists. The market is open to all artists who are at least 18 years of age. All work must be original in concept, design, execution and of the artists’ own creation. No commercially manufactured work, copies, novelties, crafts, or kits. Artists must be present with his/her work for the duration of the market. Volunteers will be provided to watch your booth for breaks as a courtesy to artists. Booths may only contain the art of the artist(s) that were accepted.

1708 Gallery calls all creative individuals to submit entries for the 13th Annual Wearable Art InLight competition and fashion show. A creative fusion of fashion, sculpture, media and movement, Wearable Art InLight is a component of InLight Richmond, the third annual celebration of light-inspired contemporary art. The winning designs will be presented in a fashion show which will take place outside on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Richmond’s historic Shockoe Slip. There will be opportunity for window displays in local fashion boutiques for the winning designs. InLight Richmond transforms a part of Richmond into an outside light-inspired art experience. The proposed concepts and designs for Wearable Art InLight should reflect the theme of light.

Clarke Art Consulting seeks volunteers for the Minority Art Exhibition (MAE). Volunteers are an invaluable part of MAE. We are looking for students with a fine art or art history background interested in event planning, artist relations, art administration, art installation and de-installation, and conducting gallery tours.
Information
MAE is an exploration and celebration of the vitality of contemporary art created by African American and Latin American artists. The mission is to engage viewers, promote cross-cultural dialogue, and cultivate a community of art enthusiasts. Along with providing exceptional works of art, MAE raises funds to support a local non-profit organization.
MAE will feature a broad survey of visual art addressing a range of themes and issues, musical and spoken-word performances, and series of artist talks, forums, and classes structured for artists, art buyers, and the general public to gain a deeper appreciation art and clarify values in promoting and supporting such artists. MAE kickoffs with a group show at Metro Space Gallery starting September 30 through October 3; followed by a second show featuring a new collaborative art installation, opening October 8 at Whitley Gallery.
Additionally, we are honored to partner with ART 180, this year. ART 180 creates and provides art-related programs for people in the Richmond area, living in challenging circumstances, encouraging personal community change through self-expression. A percentage of the event proceeds will go to ART 180.

Opportunity
Massey Cancer Center is a part of the VCU Medical College of Virginia and treats thousands of patients. MCC pushes the frontiers of medical research through state of the art treatment and clinical trials. They are dedicated to treating their patients’ illnesses, while also providing a generally quality experience. This depends largely on the environment in which the patients receive treatment. Research has proven that visual art plays an important role in developing a healing environment. To that end, The VCU Health System Arts in Health care Program seeks student artwork that would enhance the patient’s experience. This initiative will provide VCUarts students a unique opportunity to exhibit and sell their artwork. There will be four exhibits during the next 12 months. Exhibits will last approximately 90 days. Artwork cannot be removed before the exhibit’s end date.
Information
Each exhibit will include a total of 10 pieces of paint/print/photography and 1 sculpture (weighing under 65 lbs). Two dimensional artwork can not exceed 48 inches in any direction including the frame. (preference will be given to representational artwork) Artwork is insured while under the control of the VCUHS Arts in Healthcare program.

Artwork must be framed and will be security hung requiring screws to be drilled in the back of wood frames. Pedestals for indoor sculptures are provided and outdoor sculptures must be structurally sound with no sharp edges.

Opportunity
Twice a year the Arlington Arts Center offers a group of 7 artists an opportunity to exhibit work in a SOLOS show.
Information
Each year 10 to 14 artists from across the Mid-Atlantic region are selected for solo exhibitions to take place in one of AAC’s seven seperate gallery spaces, or outside on the grounds. Proposals that specifically take into account AAC’s space, layout, and surrounding environs are encouraged.
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts lead by curators Michael Pollack and Melissa Keys.
Exhibitions typically run for seven to eight weeks. AAC shows are often reviewed in The Washington Post, Art Papers, Sculpture Magazine, Art in America, and other publications, both in print and online.
Requirements
Submission deadline: July 1st
Artists may submit up to 10 images along with an artist’s statement, resume, written exhibition proposal and list of work samples submitted.
There is a $35 exhibition fee.
