PORTFOLIO SHOWCASE VOLUME 5

The exhibition is open to all photographers world wide, both amateur and professional. The Center invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate in its exhibitions.

Information

There is no theme for this exhibition. The images will be evaluated as a cohesive body of work, rather than individual images. Fifteen photographers will be chosen to display their twelve-image portfolios in the Center’s Portfolio ShowCase Volume 5 book and online exhibition.

Juror: CHRIS PICHLER
The founder and publisher of Nazraeli Press. Based in Portland, Oregon, Nazraeli Press publishes books specializing in contemporary photography.

An International Photography Competition organized by Colors of Life representing an opportunity for Photographers worldwide to submit and exhibit their work in the United States and Europe.

Information

Colors of Life (colorsofflife.org) is a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that embraces the idea that, by combining art with charitable activities, the quality of life and conditions of less-fortunate children can be improved.

The 30 final images will be submitted to Ann M. Shumard, Curator of Photographs, National Portrait Gallery, Washington DC, for the selection of the Competition winners: First, second and third prize (US $ 1500,1000, 500 respectively)

In addition, a collective exhibition of the 30 final selected photographs in the Competition will be held in USA in different venues during 2012.

Entries will be accepted from May 1st - June 30th

Entry fee: $40 to submit up to 3 images

Peter-Blair, a tie company based out of Richmond, VA is looking for a photographer to photograph the various ties, bow-ties and other products in their inventory for placement on the company’s retail website.

Information

This is a project based opportunity and compensation would be an hourly wage. The initial photo shoot of all current inventory may need to be done in stages due to the large amount of products. This project will lead to future hourly work when Peter-Blair receives new inventory in the upcoming seasons.

Requirements

Experience shooting retail products and images for website preferred. Samples of photography work and a resume are to be submitted for consideration.

Submit work for Dave Bown Projects 2nd Semiannual Competition

Information

Dave Bown Projects was founded in 2005.  The initiatives of the privately held U.S. company focus on advancing the field of contemporary art by engaging in scholarly research and distributing unrestricted monetary awards to visual artists.

7 artists will be chosen to receive $1,000

25 artists will be chosen to display their work on the Dave Bown Projects website. Each artist will have their own page that will feature an image, caption information, and a link to their website.

Design a banner to be displayed in downtown Richmond.

Information

Just use the new RVA Downtown logo, or some variation of it, to create original artwork showcasing your love of RVA or what creativity in Richmond means to you. You could be one of the top designers chosen to have your art turned into a street pole banner displayed in downtown RVA—along with up to $500 in your pocket.

Multiple winning entries will be chosen by a group of RVA Creates partners and two of those winning entries will be awarded a First and Second Prize. Plus one winner will be voted by the public as the “People’s Choice” through an online poll. All winning designers will have their work displayed on downtown street pole banners for a year or more!

Banner must incorporate a version of the RVA  Downtown logo.

Create artwork for a fundraiser for the disAbility Issues Caucus for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Information

The disAbility Issues Caucus organization is having a fundraiser event on April 15, 2011 at 6:30pm in Washington D.C. at the Democratic National Headquarters-Wasserman Family Conference Room. Featured speakers are Governor Tim Kaine, International Autism Speaker David Hamrick and Dr. Gaynell Colborn who is the percussionist for Legendary Stevie Wonder’s band. The caucus is looking for students from Universities in Central Virginia to submit a design that will be showcased on the program for the event.

Requirements

The title of the event is called “I’m Beyond my Disability”

The winner will attend the event, meet all of the speakers and celebrity guests and will be recognized at the event.

The submission is due April 4th at the close of the business day.
