Monday, August 10th, 2009Opportunity
Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation annually supports regional artists in residence at The Millay Colony, Austerlitz, NY, and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Sweet Briar, VA
Information
Residencies support writers, composers, and visual artists. The visiting artist is provided with a private studio, room and board, and the company of other artists from around the nation, for an intensive period of self-guided creative exploration and development.
In addition to sponsorship support, a small travel subsidy is awarded to the selected artist. Artists must apply directly to the appropriate colony. More information and application materials are available online.
.
Admission to the VCCA is highly selective, based on a review of applications by panels of professional artists in each discipline. There are 11 panels (poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, playwrights, performance, film and video artists, painters, sculptors, photographers, installation artists, and composers), with a total of 48 panelists. The basis for admission by an application is professional achievement or promise of achievement.
