Call for Artists to create public works in Norfolk, VA

The City of Norfolk, Virginia is excited to announce a Call for Artists to create artwork for the Lambert’s Point Community Center
Information
Norfolk, Virginia - The Norfolk Public Art Commission and the Lambert’s Point Community Center Planning Committee seek to commission an artist to create lively, light-hearted and thought-provoking artwork for the exterior of the new community center. Interactive artwork which incorporates an outdoor adventure theme and an appreciation of our natural resources is encouraged.
Project funds for this site-specific, exterior artwork are $52,000.
Pre-submission site visit on August 5, 2009 1:00 p.m. 1251 W. 42 nd Street, Norfolk
Requirements
Submission Deadline: August 27, 2009
The artwork must be fabricated in durable, permanent, outdoor media that is safe and easily maintained. Artwork size should be site-specific and properly scaled to the building. Art experienced close up as well as from the interior of the building is welcome.
