Call for Entries for New Media, No Boundries Exhibition
July 27th, 2009Opportunity
VisArts is seeking works of arts that use new media and technology to eliminate psychological or physical boundaries; and, challenge a gallery’s role as mediator between artworks and viewers.
Information
This decade has witnessed the growing use of technology throughout the world and the use of new media as a rapidly emerging art form. New Media No Boundaries looks at the ways that artists in our society are becoming more technologically dependent, challenging conventional artistic media, developing new modes of thinking, and asking new questions concerning all realms of contemporary life.
The art in this exhibition shows the extent that artistic boundaries – the space between the viewer and the object – have no limits. The exhibition also shifts a gallery’s traditional role between artists, their work, and the audience.
Using elements such as light, sound, video and the internet, the exhibition provides a constructive platform for a dialogue about art and new media. The exhibition is interactive and invites the viewer to explore new media art inside and outside the realm of the traditional gallery setting.
