Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s 25th Anniversary
January 27th, 2009Opportunity
Opportunity to create butterfly sculpture which would be displayed at the “Butterflies Live” exhibition.
Information
In late May through October, the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will host hundreds of tropical butterflies as part of the Garden’s 25th anniversary. The Lakeside business district would like to line Lakeside Avenue with several large butterflies constructed by local artists and have the sculptures serve as a gateway to the “Butterflies Live!” exhibition. As of now, the search is still on for funding but with the economy as it is, the prospects are not promising. However, there is a very good chance of gift certificates and a membership to the Garden. At the close of the exhibition, a silent auction wll be held, with all proceeds donated to the Lewis Ginter Children’s Garden and the Richmond Foodbank. If you have the time, the interest and the ability to’find’ materials (armature will be provided), please contact me by the end of February.
