Davidson County Community College: Fall Show
May 28th, 2008- Fall Show of original artwork in all media
- Slides/cds of original artwork in all media are now being accepted for the Fall Show at Davidson County Community College (DCCC). Submission deadline is June 1, 2008. The works will be exhibited in the Mendenhall Administration Building at DCCC, Lexington, NC from August 19, 2008 to December 12, 2008. CALENDAR AND INSTALLATION: 1. Work will be delivered and installed the week of August 11, 2008. Weekend deliveries are not possible. The works must be hand delivered and installed by the artist. The Exhibition Coordinator will be there to guide the installation. Artists must bring help if the works are too large to be handled by one person. 2. The Fall 2008 show will open with a reception on August 19. Art must hang the duration of the show, and must be picked up at the end of the show- Dec. 12. 3. Eight to twelve artists are selected for each show and given designated areas to use. Six to twelve pieces of work (depending on size) are accepted from each artist. OTHER SPECIFICS: 1. Artwork will be insured by the college. 2. In the event of a sale, the exhibition space will receive a 25% commission. 3. Not for sale work is acceptable. Insurance value must be given. 4. The space is responsible for collecting and reporting NC sales tax. 5. The site will print a color postcard, hold a reception, and provide the food and music. 6. A work by one artist will be selected to appear on the postcard. 7. There is no fee to enter, and no fees for participation. Please read the following requirements carefully. Incomplete submissions cannot be considered. The specific works to be displayed at DCCC will be selected from the submissions. Entries must be received by the deadline of June 1, as the selection will take place soon after that date. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN EXHIBITION, PLEASE SUBMIT BY June 1, 2008 : 1. A cover letter, stating that you are applying to the DCCC location 2. 10-20 slides of available work, numbered and labeled. (A CD ROM of low-resolution JPEG images is also acceptable. Please number JPEG files starting with 01.) No large files (we cannot open) or Power Point presentations are accepted. Include name, title, media, size and date, numbered to correspond with the image script. (Only send photos of works that are available for the show.) 3. A current resume, short artist statement and any supplementary materials 4. SASE with postage for return of materials
- 1. Artists must be able to hand deliver and install their work. No shipped work will be accepted. 2. Only original work is accepted. No mechanical reproductions, giclees, or the like will be allowed. 3. The location is interested in all styles of 2-D and 3-D media. Sculptors, small site-specific installations, and minority artists are particularly encouraged to submit. 4. No nudes or imagery with overt religious or sociopolitical themes will be considered.
