The Virginia Center for Architecture is offering an eight week summer internship program to provide practical experience in a museum setting. Meetings with department heads, curators, and staff are arranged to provide a complete overview of museum operations. The internships are unpaid and maintain regular staff hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Internships are available in the following areas of interest
Education
The education intern will work with the Director of Programs to develop and coordinate a variety of educational programming and resources. Responsibilities will include organizing special events, assisting with museum interpretation for current and future exhibitions (including gallery guides and tours), and conducting research. The internship is open to undergraduate and graduate students interested in architecture, museum education, art and/or architectural history, or arts administration.
Marketing
The marketing intern will work with the Director of Marketing and Communication to increase the publicity efforts of the Center. Responsibilities will include developing media lists for events and programs, devising and editing text for publication including press releases and the Center’s website, and designing marketing pieces such as brochures. The internship is open to undergraduate and graduate students interested in marketing, advertising, professional writing, architecture, or arts administration.
