aking of a One-of-a-Kind Handbag for a Charity Auction, October 16, 2008
July 8th, 2008- LINC is planning its annual “It’s in the Bag” charity event where local artists decorate or design a handbag expressing their creative genius while showing support for those battling cancer. You are invited to participate as a handbag designer and assist LINC in its mission.
- All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Legal Information Network for Cancer’s program and services. LINC connects people with resources that ease the day-to-day challenges of cancer. Services include helping patients secure disability benefits, locate community resources, forestall debt collection and plan for the future by drafting wills, powers of attorney, etc. Event Description: Handbag Silent & Live Auction; Purses designed by local artists Date: Evening of October 16, 2008 Event Location: Troutman Sanders Bldg. on Haxall Point, Richmond
- Handbags Completed: September 10, 2008 (Please submit sooner if completed as there is a lot of processing to do for each bag!) There are two drop off points for you when you are finished: LINC office (400-B Southlake Blvd, Attention Donna Sutton) and the Virginia Museum (attention Marcia Collier) Design Parameters: Each handbag should be named by the Designer. Some handbags will be totally created by the artist, while others will start with a pre-made form (small frame with evening fabric also available at the LINC Office and the Virginia Museum). Contact Penny Ohman* if you would like one ordered for you. Tax Receipt: Tax receipts will be issued for your work. Please declare a value and put it on the artist form you turn in with the bag. Consider the cost of the materials as well as the artistry value if sold at an art or fashion shop. Publicity: The event will be advertised in local media, flyers posted at area businesses, clubs, stores, etc. The artist’s business information, if requested – and we encourage this, will be included in the event program. Thank you for your interest in supporting LINC. We hope you will join us in this exciting event to help area cancer patients with the “every day matters” of cancer.
- Please contact Penny Ohman at pennygohman@comcast.net to be counted in as a designer and to order a purse form if needed. Any other questions can be directed to her as well. wwww.cancerlinc.org
