Design an award for the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Presidential Commission on Latinas in the Workplace
Information
The Hispanic National Bar Association will grant annual awards to Latina lawyers. The award will recognize Latina lawyers who demonstrate excellence in a variety of professional settings and personify excellence on either the national, regional, or local level. The award recipient will be selected based on the following criteria:
* The Latina was a pioneer in her field, OR
* The individual achieved professional excellence in her field;
* The Latina has a demonstrable record of contributing to or assisting members of her community;
AND (at least one of the following):
* The Latina has influenced other Latinas to pursue legal careers
* The Latina has Opened doors for Latina lawyers in a variety of job settings historically closed to them
* The Latina has advanced opportunities for Latinas within a practice area or segment of the profession
* The Latina has made significant contributions to the legal profession
* The Latina has made significant contributions to the Latino community as a direct result of her legal work.
The Commission would like to invite students to submit design ideas for this award. The winning design will reflect the multi-dimensional facets the award recipients. In particular, HNBA wants to solicit designs that represent the Latina Lawyers’:
Commitment to the Legal Profession;
Commitment to Family; and
Commitment to the Community
The award will be produced into a 7-10 inch pewter 3-dimensional sculpture which will be presented at the HNBA’s 34 th Annual Convention “Opening Doors / Abriendo Puertas” in Albuquerque, New Mexico September 2-6, 2009.
The student with the winning design will also receive a $1,500 scholarship.
