2009 Virginia Film Competition

Enter your short film, independent feature or documentary to win cash prizes and a chance to have your film screened with other finalists in Richmond, Virginia.
Information
The competition, created by the Virginia Film Office, showcase’s the talents of
Virginia’s homegrown independent filmmaking community and is open to all Virginia residents. Entries are accepted in three categories:
1) Features (submissions over 20 minutes in length)
2) Shorts (submissions under 20 minutes in length)
3) Documentaries
Requirements
Entries with a completed registration form MUST be received by the Virginia Film Office
by 5pm January 30, 2009 or postmarked by that date.
All entries must be submitted on standard DVD; non-working DVDs will be disqualified
Entries must be received by the Virginia Film Office or postmarked by January 30, 2009
The competition is only open to Virginia residents and students attending Virginia schools
Approximately 75% of the film must have been filmed in Virginia
Projects with paid distribution contracts, including DVD and theatrical, are not eligible
A participant may submit only one film per category; a participant may not submit any
version of the same film to multiple categories
Participants are responsible for securing rights for use of all previously copyrighted
material used in the entry
Finalist films from previous competitions may not be resubmitted in consecutive years, and
winning films are ineligible for reentry in the competition.
