Call to artists - Asheboro Downtown Sculpture Show

Opportunity for sculptors to have their work displayed in the Asheboro downtown area in North Carolina.

Information

The City of Asheboro, NC in conjunction with the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce, the Randolph Arts Guild and the Citizens for Art Advocacy invite you to submit work for the 4th Annual Downtown Sculpture Exhibition. The sculptures will be sited in the Asheboro downtown area and are to remain on exhibit from January 18, 2009 thru April 25, 2010. The downtown area has a new park with bandstand and fountain. Other downtown features include the Morings Art Center, the Randolph County Library, county courthouse, farmers market as well as several antique stores and small shops and a number of café’s and diners. Weekday and weekend pedestrian traffic is usually fairly brisk. Participating artists will receive an honorarium of $750.00. The City of Asheboro will have personnel and equipment for assistance in installation and de-installation of work. Insurance during the exhibition will cover liability, and loss/damage beginning after installation and ending on either the date the work is removed or the last day of de-installation. There will be a 10% commission on sales. Selection of work will be first screened by the exhibition coordinator and then presented to sponsors and community officials for approval. The sponsors have expressed an interest in showing the work of emerging sculptors for this show so advanced students and recent graduates with appropriate existing work are encouraged to apply. Interested artists may submit up to three sculptures.

Requirements

Sculptures must be large scale, durable and able to be secured sufficiently to concrete pads or ground.
Submit:

1. Digital images on a CD. Up to 3 images per sculpture. Digital images should be a minimum of 300 dpi and approximately 5”x7’” in size and should be in a jpeg format. All CD’s should be labeled with the name of the artist.

2. Image identification list including artists name, address, phone and email as well as title, medium, dimensions and price, if for sale or its insurance value.

3. Current Resume - Can be on disk

4. SASE of proper size and with sufficient postage if you want the return your submitted materials.
